About McPaul Electrical

McPaul Electrical was established in 1997 by our owner Stephen McPaul who started the business as a pool equipment repairs company due to his industry experience. Stephen earned his electrical workers licence by completing his apprenticeship prior to starting the business. While working in the pool industry, he started and completed his electrical contractors licence working full time performing other domestic works.

Two decades later, McPaul Electrical is the only business in Cairns that specialises in both pool equipment repairs and electrical. Our service scope includes switchboard upgrades, general electrical repairs, lights and power points, renovations and extensions, ceiling fans, hot water systems, insurance and safety and, of course, pool equipment repairs.

With over 20 years of industry experience in the Cairns area, we are proud to hold a positive reputation among our clients as reliable and affordable electricians who get the job done fast. Our business is based in Edmonton however our service area includes the greater Cairns, Northern Beaches and the Tablelands regions. We are on call for all service areas, providing emergency electrical services no matter how big or small the job is.

In June last year, our workshop tragically caught on fire and we lost everything. Now, we work out of a brand-new workshop and have recovered from the devastation the fire left. During that time, we received so much support from our clients which helped us keep going and rebuild the business back to what it was. Due to this, we are motivated more than ever to go above and beyond for our clients, who recognise the McPaul Electrical difference.

Our Process:

Working in the industry for over 20 years has allowed us to perfect a streamlined process to ensure we always get the job done perfectly in a short time frame. When you get in contact with us, you’ll chat with Stephen to arrange a time and date for him to come and tend to the job. Once Stephen arrives, he will assess the severity of the job and see how long it will take, and what materials he may need. He will always give you plenty of options to suit your budget and preferences. Once you’ve come to an agreement on the job, he will let you know the details, for example, how long you might be without power, how long it will take or when materials will be arriving. Depending on this, Stephen may be able to complete work upon arrival, or you may need to arrange a suitable time for him to return.

While our process changes from job to job, we always strive to communicate with our customers throughout the entire process, working as a team from start to finish for a result everyone is happy with.

FAQ’s

There’s a product I want to have installed in my home that you don’t stock. Can you order it in?

Yes, we can order in any product you like including light fittings, ceiling fans, exhaust fans and kitchen appliances. We are also happy for you to go and source the product yourself and bring it to us for installation.

What is the difference between a repair and an upgrade?

A ‘repair’ is classed as a remove and replace job, where no wiring must be upgraded. An ‘upgrade’ is classed as a remove and relocate job which means wiring needs to be changed to meet Australian standards (if it does not already).

My power is out, can you fix it?

Yes! When you give us a call, we will ask if you have unplugged appliances and reset the safety switch. However, if it still isn’t working, we can certainly come and help.
