Smoke Alarms:

Since 2017, all smoke alarms older than ten years must be replaced. Additional requirements apply from 2027, where any smoke alarms installed in an existing dwelling are required to:

• Be photoelectric
• Interconnect with other smoke alarms in the house
• Be in every bedroom and hallway, with at least one on every storey
• Not contain ionisation sensors

These requirements begin in 2022 for any homes being sold or leased.

In addition to installing and replacing smoke alarms, we’re more than happy to test all your existing smoke alarms and check that they meet current standards.

Electrical Rewiring:

With improvements in wiring insulation and installation methods over the years, rewiring is required much less often. Many ‘Queenslander’ style homes and other older structures still have older wiring that can pose a safety risk or just be inappropriate for modern appliances. Rewiring may be appropriate to modernise your household (i.e. C-Bus wiring), make your home safer from fire hazards, or it may need to be done when renovating.

We can take care of specific rooms or perform complete rewiring with new switchboards across the entire house.
